You have to find the objects that will be turned into shops for The Grove. The Grove has missing shops that will provide many services, one of them being to buy and upgrade Spritelings. To carry more Spritelings, you need to find an item that's hidden on the map. The maximum amount of Spritelings you can carry is 60.

Later in the game, you'll be able to start upgrading how many Spritelings you can bring with you. Here, you can hatch more Spritelings, recruit or withdraw them, and dismiss any lost Spritelings you couldn't find in the wild. It looks like a tree stump with a blue glow inside of it. Any object that needs Spritelings to build or carry will highlight how many Spritelings are needed when you get close to it.
